How Many Appointments for RCT?

Normally, RCT takes 1-2 appointments but the exact number of appointments would be contingent on the severity of the infection. Contrary to popular belief, root canal does not ‘kill’ the treated tooth. Its surface is still alive and healthy after the infected pulp is taken out.

When is a Dental Crown Required

  • After an RCT, the tooth becomes fragile as the pulp which nourishes the tooth is removed. This makes the tooth susceptible to breakage while eating.  To make the tooth strong and functional, it is inevitable to get it filled and then covered with a crown.
  • A dental crown is a cap that is shaped like a tooth. It is positioned over the treated tooth to improve its strength and aesthetic appearance. Dental crowns need to be taken care of. On an average, they last 8-10 years.3
  • The front teeth may not need the dental crown for strength but for improved appearance.

How Long Will the Treated Tooth Last?

Did you know: The highest number of procedural errors during an RCT occurs in the lower molar. Be careful when selecting your dentist. Take into account their credentials and experience.4

  • You can expect your newly treated tooth to create no problems for over 10 years provided you undertake measures to maintain oral hygiene as recommended by your dentist.
  • Since the procedure has a relatively quick recovery time, it is fun and easy to incorporate conventional tourist activities into your trip.
